Today on the Artistry Drop we have Rocco808, crossing over from the Pacific Ocean and infusing island culture into hip-hop music. After making the transition from a small island in Hawaii to the big city of Los Angeles, he honed in on his craft and developed his own sound after years of experimental projects of writing, recording, and composing records. He has a combination of diverse sounds which expresses his authenticity and his reinvention of pop reggae, Afro and rap music. In this episode Rocco dives deep into the culture shock he's experienced moving from the laid back environment to now the normalized fast pace culture of LA. Not only has this effected his everyday life but also helped shaped his artistry in many different ways. Like many others in LA, most of us who live here have moved from another state or country and share an outside perspective of what others might perceive as normal in this city. We hope that hearing Rocco's story inspires others to embrace being different and believe in themselves aside from what others might think or say.
